Hope everyone had a relaxing and restorative holiday season. To wrap up 2022 we’d like to share with you our annual project recap! We’re looking forward to new and exciting projects in 2023, but here’s how 2022 went down:

Project of the Year Award: $53 Million Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center

This amazing project will benefit the Louisville community for years to come and we were proud to be a part of making it a reality for the community. The new facility, built on a vacant 24-acre brownfield site, features a bowling alley, a rock-climbing wall, 200-meter indoor track, and a 400-meter outdoor track.

In January of 2023 the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center hosted the USA and ACC Track and Field Championships which was expected to bring in more than $6 million to Louisville.

Launch of our Browne Company Overview Video

At Browne we believe that community is critical to human wellbeing. Health and happiness are both influenced by our social connections. The projects we are most passionate about as a company, are those that bring people together and make our communities stronger.

A study by The Ohio State University, found that people feel most supported when their networks are more tightly knit together. This is the essence of community. Our mission at Browne is to help build that sense of community. Whether it’s through construction of a community enhancing building or bringing the community together in support of a major development project, the services we provide support the projects that bring people together. THE SPRINT Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission Multiple Building Renovation

What happens when the available time to design a project and the needs of the organization to fund it, aren’t aligned? When a ‘go/no go’ decision is driven by an ability to execute this complex system in less than half the normal amount of time—this is what we at Browne call …The Sprint!”

To assure this renovation project met the strict federal funding deadlines, the Browne team had a huge challenge to overcome. We had to secure the required specialized expertise, architects, engineers, and complete the first phase of the design to support the funding request in just 28 days… a process that normally requires 3 to 4 months!

“Browne really took the time to understand our funding and the restrictions surrounding the funding. That entailed doing research and reading through federal regulations. They clearly did that from the beginning. I don’t know if other project managers would have done that.”

—Bob Williams. Vice President for Finance & Administration, NKCAC

Another Exciting Partnership for Browne: CMTA

Browne partnered with CMTA on exciting projects in the community to help grow our service offering and assist CMTA in meeting their Edge/diversity requirements. Both firms have a strong commitment to their communities and a dedication to excellence, so it was a great fit.

In the partnership, Browne was seeking additional opportunities to increase their MEP sector and Owner’s Rep experience, CMTA wanted to increase their company’s diversity to meet their Edge participation goals. “We wanted to expand our diversity but do it in a way that would also create a cohesive team.” Said Kyle Waymeyer, Mechanical Engineer at CMTA, Inc.

The Browne CMTA partnership has turned out to be both productive and mutually beneficial. Here is just a sample of some of Cincinnati’s premier projects that Browne and CMTA have partnered on:

  • Pepper Construction’s New Headquarters: An LEED Certified, LEED Gold, Well Gold, and what is likely the first Net Zero Building in the world to meet all the historical building requirements.
  • Cincinnati Nature Center’s Sustainability Master Plan: A 10–15-year plan to help the organization meet their sustainability goals.
  • Merit Theater Renovation in Burlington Ky: Merit Theatre Company was founded in 2017 to provide family-friendly entertainment through powerful stories and a commitment to quality. Based in Northern Kentucky, they work with talent from across the Tri-State area.
  • Cincinnati Children’s Hospital’s New Behavioral Health Center: Cincinnati Children’s is addressing the increasing mental health needs in our community with a groundbreaking $99 million inpatient mental health facility in College Hill.
